Do you feel like your life has become one big struggle? Do these statements resonate with you?
- I’m definitely not living the life I want to
- I constantly feel tired and exhausted physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually
- I’m sick of old patterns popping up over and over again
- No matter how hard I try, I cant break free from the struggles in my life
- I can see the negative impact all this stress is having on my health
- I work so hard every day and for so many hours but have nothing to show for it
- I’ve distanced myself from my social and family relationships
- I have no energy or desire to do anything
- If something doesn’t change soon I’m going to have a breakdown, I can’t take it any more!
I hear you! And let me say that you are not alone. Each one of us goes through some struggle in our life at different points and at different intensity. It is normal to have struggles in life. We learn, grow and expand in ways we could never have because of he struggles in our life. However, we really need to pay keen attention to ourselves when we find that struggle seems to have become a norm, a way of life for us.
Many if us as we find ourselves struggling, we have a tendency to blame things, situation, people out there for our plight. We may think- “If only x,y,z had happened, or hadn’t happened”, “if only I had x,y,z” “If only my he/she/ my parents/spouse/boss was x,y,z”, I wouldn’t be in this misery! I felt exactly this way a decade ago!
Today I lead a life that I never dreamed possible. After a decade on this journey and helping thousands move past their struggle to peace, clarity and so much more, here are some views I want to share with you that helped me transform my life 360 degrees:
- You create your life with your thoughts– this is the phrase that I heard a decade ago and changed my life forever. Its easy to play the blame game. The truth is, its your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, attitude, behavior that create your reality. And unless you are open and willing to create the change WITHIN, the outside reality stays the same.
- Self Awareness is the first step to thriving! You may have heard this many times: KNOW THYSELF. Unless you take time to reflect and understand yourself, nothing outside can change. So take a minute now, and reflect on the following:
- What are the struggles that keep repeating in my life?
- What beliefs, feelings, opinions do you have about these challenges
- What is the story you keep telling yourself and others abut why you are in this struggle mode?
- Is the story, the belief, opinion an empowering one? Or a disempowering one? A positive one? Or a negative one?
- If it is disempowering, understand that holding on to the same beliefs, stories, opinions, will only create more of the same struggle.
- In order to break free from it you need to change your story, change your beliefs, opinions…even though it may seem hard and impossible!
Unless and until you are willing to be honest with yourself and change the negative mindset, you cannot expect to bring the changes you so want for yourself and your loved ones.
- Make a solid commitment to living the life you want– that means have a 0 tolerance policy for continuing to live in struggle. In other words, don’t just have a soft wish like “wouldn’t it be nice if things changed…”. Have a strong desire, a solid commitment to doing ” whatever it takes” to get the results you want.
- Be open and willing to try something different– you are already trying things you know. Since those aren’t bringing the results you want, be open to what else might be out there- tools, strategies, seminars, workshops etc. You may bump into something that works for you.
- Get Professional help– Often when we begin this journey of self awareness and self healing, it’s like opening a can of worms and we may feel overwhelmed. Plus, sometimes the issues re so close to us, we may not recognize what’s truly keeping us stuck. Also if you want to speed up the results, its worth it to work with someone who is an expert who can help you get the results you want faster and easier.
As they say, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. No matter what your current situation or struggle is, remember you have a choice- to play the blame game and keep the struggle, or be honest with yourself and take steps towards creating more of what you want!
I believe there is a loving God, source, higher power. I also believe that we are a spark of the divine and we are meant to thrive and live a life of joy, meaning and abundance. What do you believe? What small action can you take today towards creating the life you want? I’d love to know!
