“If You Want To Change The Fruits, You Will First Have to Change The Roots.
If You Want to Change The Visible, You Will First Have To Change The Invisible”
~ T Harv Ecker
The above quote, and different versions of the above have been the cornerstone of my healing journey. A decade ago, I was able to break free from my physical chronic pain and disease, when I truly understood the above. I finally got it that our Inner Reality does in fact create our Outer Reality. When my efforts to help myself break free from my disease and pain were directed OUTWARD (medications, injections, physiotherapy, hot packs, cold packs, rib belt, neck support etc.), nothing shifted, in fact the pain only got worse over time. I was eventually confined to bed-rest forever!
One of the most important things I teach and share in my programs, or talks is to TUNE IN. TUNE IN to how you are feeling, what you are thinking, what are those underlying messages your body is sending you. Your inner emotional environment is the feeding ground for what is going to show up in your outer reality!
Most people are super “busy” with their fast paced lives and have little or no time to TUNE IN. Right from when we wake up we are bombarded with things that grab our attention OUTWARD. We are socially environmentally wired these days to be TUNED OUT! There is so much to attend to out there- Facebook, Twitter, linked In, Emails, Whats App, Online shows, Emails and on and on the list goes. Plus there is always a never ending ‘to do list’ in which every single item feels URGENT!
Lost in this outer chaos, it becomes impossible to be bothered about what is happening WITHIN us. It doesn’t seem URGENT or IMPORTANT to tend to our inner emotional landscape in any way. Who has the time for that silly stuff?
We only ever begin to pay attention to that inner world when we visibly begin to feel OFF TUNE! –
Some signs that let you know you are OFF TUNE:
- Your body starts to speak to you with minor symptoms…aches, pains that just don’t seem to improve
- You start feeling a clear and pronounced sense of dis-ease in your job, relationship
- You find yourself feeling very edgy in your interactions with your loved ones, and saying hurtful things to them
- Life feels more and more robotic with no sense of joy or fun
- No matter how hard we try, things seem to keep getting worse
These OUTER RESULTS are simple SIGNS about your INNER WORLD! And unless you begin to TUNE IN and really attend to those inner root issues, you can never really change the outer results.
3 QUICK TIPS to get back in tune:
- Quiet Time – having time to just be quiet for 15 minutes will help you calm down from the frenzy of your busy life. Maybe put on some soft music and just listen…or possibly sit out in your balcony and observe the natural beauty around…or find a quiet corner in your home and close your eyes and simply focus on your breathing.
- Journal Your thoughts – when you have lots of thoughts swirling in your head, your to do lists, worries about the future etc. …there is no place to anchor them and they keep floating in your head and keep you in a state of anxiety. Simply writing them takes them out of your head and into a paper and lets you “see” them and may possibly lead you to taking actions that help ease the overwhelm.
- Walk and Talk – instead of holding on to your feelings and all the confusion in your head go for a short walk outdoors and having a chat with yourself might help clear the air and bring some clarity and thus peace.
Of course there is a lot more to being in tune with yourself and being in the flow, but I hope this will get you started in the right direction. It will help you build a habit of staying in tune with you and better taking charge of your life so everything works in harmony!
